Features
Thumb spike.
Iguanodon bernissartensis is a dinosaur known from specimens at Bernissart in Belgium. Numerous iguanodontian skeletons were discovered at that locality. The first finger formed a spike.
Scientific uncertainty
The function of the thumb spike is treated as a hypothesis, separate from observations of its shape. Colour, soft tissues and posture in the reconstruction include inference.
